Rafa Matos is a Brazilian professional racing driver. He was born on August 28, 1980, in Belo Horizonte, Brazil. He started his racing career in South America, competing in the Brazilian Formula Renault, Brazilian Formula Three, and Stock Car Brasil championships.
In 2006, he moved to North America to compete in the Champ Car Atlantic Series, where he won the championship in his debut season. He later competed in the Indy Lights series and the Grand-Am Rolex Sports Car Series.
Matos made his debut in the IndyCar Series in 2009, driving for Luczo Dragon Racing. He made 17 starts in his rookie season, with a best finish of fourth at the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course. He continued to compete in the IndyCar Series in 2010 and 2011, driving for de Ferran Dragon Racing and AFS Racing, respectively.
In recent years, Matos has focused on sports car racing, competing in the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship. He won the 2018 championship in the GT Daytona class driving for the Mercedes-AMG GT3 team.
